Ecology and Biogeography
Asconema setubalense occurs on rocky/hard substrates in deep marine habitats. In the Central Cantabrian Sea (including the Le Danois Bank/El Cachucho MPA and adjacent areas), high-resolution spatial modeling based on georeferenced in situ imagery indicates that depth and bottom “ground types” (substrate categories) are among the dominant environmental predictors, with additional discrimination provided by bottom silicate availability and near-bottom currents.
