Asarkina belli exhibits the characteristic body form of many hoverflies (Syrphidae), with a slender, elongated abdomen. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that the species possesses a distinct, patterned abdomen, often featuring alternating dark and lighter-colored transverse bands, which is typical for the genus.[1] The head is dominated by large, prominent compound eyes, and the wings are clear and held in a characteristic position when at rest.[1]
Asarkina belli is recognized as an aphidophagous predator.[2] Research conducted in the eastern dry zone of Karnataka, India, during 2021–2022 documented this species preying on the aphid Hysteroneura setariae (Thomas), which was found on the host plant Melinis repens (Willd.) Zizka.[2]
