Visual Description
Arthropeina fulva is a species of fly within the family Xylomyidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a generally slender, elongated body form characteristic of many xylomyids.[1] The specimens display a predominantly tawny or yellowish-brown coloration, which is consistent with the specific epithet fulva.[2]
Biology and Classification
Arthropeina fulva was described by Erwin Lindner in 1949.[2] It is a Neotropical species belonging to the genus Arthropeina.[3] While the genus was historically known only from this type species, a 2014 taxonomic revision emended the genus diagnosis and expanded its known diversity by describing five additional species.[3]
