Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens, Arthroceras leptis exhibits the general body form characteristic of the family Rhagionidae. The specimens display a relatively slender, elongated abdomen and prominent, well-developed wings. The thorax and abdomen show distinct coloration patterns, with a mix of darker and lighter tones, and the legs are relatively long and thin, typical of the family.[1]
Distribution and Ecology
Arthroceras leptis (Osten Sacken, 1878) is a member of the family Rhagionidae.[2] The species has a broad geographic distribution, which includes Western and Eastern Siberia, the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories, Japan, and North America (specifically New Hampshire, USA).[2]
In the context of the fauna of Yakutia, a specimen was collected in Southern Yakutia at the Tokinsky Stanovik Range, upstream along the Ayagana River, near the mouth of the Chaidakh River in a naled (icing) area, on July 27, 2000.[2]
