Visual Description
Based on observations of Aristothereva specimens, such as A. eversmanni, these flies exhibit the characteristic stiletto fly morphology. They possess a slender, elongated body form typical of the family Therevidae. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense setae (hairs), which contribute to their overall textured appearance. The wings are generally clear or lightly patterned, and the head is dominated by large, prominent compound eyes.[1]
General Information
Aristothereva is a genus of stiletto flies within the family Therevidae. It was described by the entomologist Richard Frey in 1921.[2]
