Visual Description
The species Argyra sericata is a member of the family Dolichopodidae. Observations of preserved specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset[1] show typical long-legged fly morphology. Due to the nature of the preserved specimen imagery, fine diagnostic characters such as specific setal patterns or wing venation details are not fully resolvable; however, the general body form characteristic of the genus Argyra is consistent with the specimens.
General Information
Argyra sericata is a species of long-legged fly in the family Dolichopodidae. It was described by the entomologist M.C. Van Duzee in 1925.[2] The original description was published in a revision of the North American species of the genus Argyra.[2]
