Visual Description
Based on observations of preserved specimens, Argyra calcitrans exhibits the characteristic morphology of the family Dolichopodidae.[1] The specimens display a slender, elongated body typical of long-legged flies, with prominent, well-developed legs. The thorax and abdomen show metallic coloration, a common trait within the genus Argyra. Due to the nature of the preserved material, finer diagnostic characters such as specific wing venation patterns or setal arrangements are not clearly resolved in the available imagery.[1]
General Information
Argyra calcitrans is a species of long-legged fly in the family Dolichopodidae.[2] It was originally described by the entomologist Hermann Loew in 1861.[2]
