Visual Description
Arctosyrphus willingii is a species of hoverfly. Based on observations of museum specimens, the adult exhibits characteristic syrphid morphology, including a distinct, often patterned abdomen and specialized wing venation. The body displays a combination of dark and lighter, potentially yellowish or brownish, markings typical of many species within the Eristalini tribe.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
Arctosyrphus willingii has been documented visiting flowers of the genus Taraxacum (dandelions).[2]
History
The species was described by H.E. Smith in 1912, originally under the name Helophilus willingii.[3]
