Arctosoma nigripalpes is a species of fly within the family Tachinidae. Based on examination of preserved museum specimens, the species exhibits typical tachinid morphology, characterized by a robust body structure. Visible traits include a set of prominent, dark-colored palpi, which are consistent with the specific epithet nigripalpes (meaning "black palps"). The thorax and abdomen are covered in dense, coarse setae (bristles), a common feature among members of this family. The wings are generally clear or slightly infuscated, with distinct venation patterns typical of the order Diptera.[1]
Arctosoma nigripalpes was described by the entomologist J. M. Aldrich in 1934. The species was formally published in the work Tachinidae. Dipt. Patagonia S. Chile.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Arctosoma.[2]
