Based on observations of museum specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Arctosoma exhibits typical tachinid morphology.[1] The specimens display a robust, bristly body characteristic of the family. The thorax and abdomen are covered in distinct, dark macrochaetae (bristles). The overall coloration appears dark, with a pattern of lighter, possibly pollinose, dusting on the thorax. The wings are clear and well-developed, extending beyond the tip of the abdomen.
Arctosoma is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.[2] It was described by the entomologist John Merton Aldrich in 1934.[3][2]
