Visual Description
Arciellia flaviventer is a species of long-legged fly within the family Dolichopodidae. Based on examination of preserved specimens, the species exhibits characteristic features of the family, including a slender body form and relatively long, thin legs. The specimens display a distinct coloration pattern, with a yellowish abdomen, which is consistent with the specific epithet flaviventer (meaning "yellow belly"). The wings are typically clear or slightly infuscated, and the thorax shows a robust, sclerotized structure typical of the genus.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Arciellia flaviventer was described by Hardy and Kohn in 1964 as part of their work on the Dolichopodidae of Hawaii.[2] It is an accepted species within the genus Arciellia.[2]
