Visual Description
Arciellia dolichostoma is a small fly characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae. Based on observations of museum specimens, the species exhibits a slender, elongated body form typical of many long-legged flies. The thorax and abdomen are generally dark in coloration, often with a metallic or slightly iridescent sheen. The wings are clear and membranous, with distinct venation patterns characteristic of the family. The legs are notably long and slender, which is a diagnostic feature for many members of the Dolichopodidae.[1]
Classification and History
Arciellia dolichostoma was originally described by Hardy and Kohn in 1964 as Eurynogaster dolichostoma.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Arciellia.[2]
