Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Arciellia are small flies typical of the family Dolichopodidae.[1] The specimens exhibit a slender body form with relatively long, thin legs. The wings are generally clear and held in a characteristic position over the abdomen. The thorax and abdomen show distinct coloration, often with metallic or dark hues, which is a common trait among many dolichopodids.[1]
Overview
Arciellia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae.[2] The genus was described by Neal Evenhuis in 2005.[2] It is known to be endemic to Hawaii.[3]
