The abdomen often exhibits a metallic or sub-metallic sheen, and the overall coloration includes shades of brown, black, and sometimes yellowish or golden pollinosity on the thorax.[1]
Taxonomic History
The taxonomic status of Archytas analis (Macquart, 1843) has been clarified through the reinstatement of its synonymy with Archytas analis (Fabricius, 1805). While previous literature had treated Archytas analis (Fabricius) as an unrecognized taxon, examination of the female type specimen allows for its unambiguous identification, whereas Archytas analis (Macquart) is regarded as unrecognized.[2]
Ecology
Archytas analis has been observed interacting with various plants, including Persicaria capitata.[3]
