Visual Description
The species Archisepsis pusio is a member of the family Sepsidae, commonly known as black scavenger flies. Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, these flies exhibit the characteristic slender, ant-like body form typical of the family.[1] They possess a shiny, dark-colored exoskeleton and wings that are often clear or have subtle markings. The head is typically rounded with prominent compound eyes. Due to the nature of the available dataset imagery, which primarily consists of pinned museum specimens, fine morphological details such as specific chaetotaxy (bristle patterns) or wing venation are difficult to resolve, though the overall body proportions and dark coloration are consistent with the genus Archisepsis.[1]
Distribution
