Visual Description
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, members of the genus Archimyza exhibit a robust, elongated body form typical of the subfamily Chiromyzinae.[1] The specimens observed display a distinct, somewhat flattened appearance with well-defined abdominal segments. The coloration is generally muted, consistent with ground-dwelling or soil-associated habits.[1]
Taxonomic Status
Recent taxonomic revisions have reclassified taxa previously assigned to Archimyza Enderlein, 1921, into the genus Chiromyza Wiedemann, 1820, within the subfamily Chiromyzinae.[2]
