This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Based on observations of Arceuthomyia (specifically A. valerii) from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, these insects exhibit the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of many gall midges.[1] They possess long, thin legs and elongated antennae, which are often prominent features. The body is generally small and fragile in appearance, with wings that are relatively large in proportion to the body size, often appearing clear or slightly translucent.[1]
Arceuthomyia is a genus within the family Cecidomyiidae, commonly known as gall midges. Members of this genus, such as Arceuthomyia valerii, are known to interact with plants, specifically species such as Juniperus oxycedrus.[2] Additionally, Arceuthomyia valerii serves as a host for other insects, including the parasitoid wasp Torymus valerii.[2]
