Visual Description
Aquachasma leucoproctum is a small fly characteristic of the family Ephydridae. Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a compact, robust body form typical of shore flies.[1] The body coloration is generally dark, and the wings are clear with distinct venation patterns.[1]
Classification and History
Aquachasma leucoproctum was originally described by Hermann Loew in 1861 under the name Discocerina leucoprocta.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Aquachasma.[2]
