The species Aptilotus luctuosus is a member of the family Sphaeroceridae. Based on examination of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic morphology of the family, including a small, robust body form.[1] Due to the limitations of the available imagery, finer diagnostic morphological traits cannot be resolved.
General Information
Aptilotus luctuosus was originally described by Spuler in 1925 under the basionym Leptocera luctuosa.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Aptilotus.[2]
