Based on observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Apterodromia individuals exhibit a compact, robust body form typical of certain hybotid flies.[1] The specimens display a dark, often brownish or blackish coloration across the thorax and abdomen.[1] The wings, where present and visible in the specimens, appear relatively narrow in relation to the body size.[1]
Apterodromia is a genus of flies in the family Hybotidae.[2] The genus was described by the entomologist Harold Oldroyd in 1949.[2]
