Aprionus lapponicus is a species of wood midge within the family Cecidomyiidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens exhibit the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of the Lestremiinae subfamily.[1] The body is elongated and fragile, with long, slender legs and antennae that are prominent relative to the body size. The wings are typically clear or lightly veined, consistent with the general appearance of other members of the genus Aprionus. Due to the small size and the nature of the available imagery, fine diagnostic morphological characters such as specific antennal sensilla or terminalia structures are not clearly resolvable.[1]
