Apophoneura vittigera is a small fly belonging to the family Heleomyzidae. Based on observations of museum specimens, the body exhibits a generally brownish coloration. The wings are relatively long and clear, with distinct venation characteristic of the family. The thorax and abdomen are somewhat elongated, and the legs are slender.[1]
Apophoneura vittigera was described by the entomologist J.R. Malloch in 1933. The species was published in the work Acalyptrata. Dipt. Patagonia S. Chile.[2]
