Visual Description
Members of the genus Apodacra are flies characterized by their general sarcophagid body plan. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that these flies typically exhibit a robust, bristly appearance common to many flesh flies.[1] Visible traits include a distinct pattern of thoracic and abdominal markings, often featuring dark, longitudinal stripes on the thorax and a checkered or spotted pattern on the abdomen.[1]
Classification and Biology
Apodacra Macquart, 1854, is a genus within the subfamily Miltogramminae of the family Sarcophagidae.[2],[3] Historically, phylogenetic studies have proposed a sister-group relationship between Apodacra and the genus Beludzhia.[4]
