Apoclea algira is a species of robber fly (family Asilidae). While specific morphological details are difficult to resolve from the available dataset imagery, specimens of this genus typically exhibit the characteristic features of the family, including a robust, often bristly body, a prominent proboscis adapted for predatory feeding, and large, widely separated eyes.[1]
Apoclea algira was originally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1767 under the name Asilus algirus.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Apoclea.[2]
