Visual Description
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Apiochaeta flies exhibit a slender, elongated body typical of many clusiids.[1] They possess distinct, relatively large wings that often show subtle venation patterns, and their head structure includes prominent eyes and antennae.[1]
Classification and Morphology
The genus Apiochaeta was described by Czerny in 1903.[2] It is classified within the subfamily Clusiinae of the family Clusiidae.[3]
In terms of chaetotaxy, species within this genus are generally characterized by the absence of the presutural intra-alar bristle.[3]
