Apiocera tropica exhibits the characteristic elongated, robust body form typical of the family Apioceridae. Observations of preserved specimens reveal a dense covering of fine, pale-colored setae (hairs) across the thorax and abdomen, which contribute to a somewhat fuzzy appearance. The wings are clear and membranous, with a venation pattern consistent with the genus Apiocera. The head features prominent, relatively large compound eyes that occupy a significant portion of the lateral head surface.[1]
