Visual Description
Apiocera spectabilis exhibits the characteristic morphology of the family Apioceridae. Based on observations of preserved specimens, the body is elongated and robust, typical of the genus. The wings are well-developed, showing clear venation patterns characteristic of the order Diptera. The head features prominent, large eyes and specialized mouthparts adapted for the biology of the species. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, dense setae (hairs), which are often observed in this family.[1]
General Information
Apiocera spectabilis is a species of fly in the family Apioceridae, first described by M. A. Cazier in 1982. The species was formally documented in his revision of the North American flies belonging to the genus Apiocera.[2]
