Visual Description
Apiocera barri is a species of fly within the family Apioceridae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic elongated, slender body form typical of the genus Apiocera.[1] The specimens display a distinct, tapering abdomen and prominent, forward-projecting mouthparts. The wings are typically clear or lightly tinted, with venation patterns consistent with the family.[1]
Classification and Distribution
Apiocera barri was described by M. A. Cazier in 1982 as part of his revision of North American flies in the genus Apiocera.[2] It is an accepted species within the family Apioceridae.[2]
