Visual Description
Aphrosylus venator is a small fly characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits a slender, elongated body form typical of many long-legged flies.[1] The specimens display prominent, relatively long legs and wings that extend beyond the abdomen, with a general coloration that appears muted or dark, often blending with their environment.[1]
Distribution and Ecology
Aphrosylus venator is a member of the subfamily Hydrophorinae.[2] Recent faunistic studies have expanded the known range of the species, including its first documented record in Turkey, where specimens were collected in the Muğla Province (Ula, Akyaka) during May 2011 and April–May 2013.[2]
