Visual Description
Members of the genus Aphrosylus are small, long-legged flies. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset show that these flies typically exhibit a slender, elongated body form characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae.[1] They often possess metallic or dark-colored bodies, and their wings are typically clear or slightly tinted. Distribution and Ecology
Aphrosylus is a genus of long-legged flies within the subfamily Hydrophorinae.[2] These flies are known to inhabit coastal environments, often found in intertidal zones.[3] Recent studies have expanded the known distribution of several species, including records from Morocco, where they have been collected in coastal areas such as Oualidia lagune and Essaouira.[4]
