Based on examination of museum specimen imagery, Aphestia mexicana exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Asilidae (robber flies). The specimen displays a robust, elongated thorax and a slender abdomen typical of the genus. The wings are well-developed and transparent, extending beyond the tip of the abdomen. The legs are relatively long and equipped with visible bristles, which are functional adaptations for predatory behavior.[1]
