General Information
Aphantorhaphopsis is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.[2] While some authorities classify it as a subgenus of Siphona, many European researchers treat it as a distinct genus.[2] The group is distributed across the Palearctic, Afrotropical, and Oriental regions.[2]
Visual Description
Based on observations of Aphantorhaphopsis specimens, these flies exhibit the characteristic tachinid body plan.[1] They typically possess a robust thorax covered in distinct, dark bristles (macrochaetae) and a slender, elongated abdomen.[1] The wings are generally clear and held in a characteristic position at rest.[1]
