Aphanotrigonum scabrum is a member of the family Chloropidae, commonly known as frit flies. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens exhibit the characteristic small, robust body form typical of many chloropids.[1] Due to the limitations of the available imagery, finer morphological details such as specific setal patterns or precise wing venation cannot be resolved.
History and Classification
Aphanotrigonum scabrum was originally described by J.M. Aldrich in 1918 under the name Oscinis scabra.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Aphanotrigonum.[2]
