Overview
Apalocnemis is a genus of flies belonging to the family Brachystomatidae (Diptera: Empidoidea) [2]. The genus was described by R.A. Philippi in 1865 [3]. Within Chile, it is recognized as the second most species-rich genus of Brachystomatidae, containing 11 of the 36 species identified in the country [2]. Taxonomic studies have been conducted to refine the classification of Neotropical species within the subfamily Trichopezinae [2].
