Visual Description
Apallates neocoxendix is a species of fly within the family Chloropidae. Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits the characteristic small, robust body form typical of many chloropid flies.[1] The specimens display a dark-colored thorax and abdomen, with visible wing venation patterns consistent with the family. Due to the limitations of the available imagery, finer morphological details such as specific setal arrangements or precise antennal structure cannot be definitively resolved.[1]
Taxonomy and History
Apallates neocoxendix was originally described by Curtis W. Sabrosky in 1940 as Oscinella neocoxendix.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Apallates.[2]
