Visual Description
Based on observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Apallates dissidens exhibits the characteristic body form of a small acalyptrate fly within the family Chloropidae.[1] The specimens display a compact, robust thorax and a relatively short abdomen. The coloration is generally dark, with a shiny, sclerotized cuticle typical of many grass flies. The head features prominent compound eyes and a distinct frontal triangle, which is a diagnostic feature for many chloropids.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
Apallates dissidens has been documented interacting with various plant species, including Dalea feayi, Solidago fistulosa, and Paronychia chartacea.[2]
