Based on observations of museum specimens, Anypodetus unicolor exhibits a generally uniform, brownish coloration across its body. The specimens display the characteristic robust, bristly appearance typical of many robber flies in the family Asilidae. The thorax and abdomen are covered in fine, short setae, and the legs are relatively slender with distinct tarsal claws.[1]
Anypodetus unicolor was described by Harold Oldroyd in 1974.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Anypodetus.[2] Its original description was published in the work "An introduction to the robber flies (Diptera: Asilidae) of southern Africa," which appeared in the Annals of the Natal Museum.[2]
