Anypodetus nigrifacies is a species of robber fly (family Asilidae). Based on examination of museum specimens, the species exhibits typical asilid morphology, characterized by a robust, elongated body. Key features observed in specimens include a distinct, dark-colored face (from which the specific epithet nigrifacies is derived) and a set of prominent, forward-projecting bristles on the head, which are characteristic of many robber flies. The thorax is well-developed, supporting strong, functional wings, and the legs are equipped with spines, facilitating their predatory lifestyle.[1]
Anypodetus nigrifacies was described by Gertrude Ricardo in 1925.[2] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Anypodetus.[2] The original description was published in the Annals and Magazine of Natural History.[2]
