Phylogenetic studies have shown that the genus Archiborborus Duda is paraphyletic, and Antrops is considered a senior synonym of Archiborborus.[2] The subfamily Archiborborinae is notable for the frequent occurrence of flightless species, with aptery and brachyptery having evolved multiple times within the group.[2]
