Visual Description
Anticheta borealis is a small fly characteristic of the family Sciomyzidae. Based on observations of museum specimens, the species exhibits a slender body form typical of the genus. The wings are generally clear or lightly patterned, and the thorax and abdomen display a brownish coloration. The head features prominent compound eyes and antennae that are characteristic of the Diptera order.[1]
Distribution and Classification
Anticheta borealis was described by B.A. Foote in 1961.[2] Recent taxonomic work on the genus Anticheta in the Nearctic region has included A. borealis in updated identification keys, distinguishing it from other members of the genus, including newly described species such as Anticheta patzcuaroensis.[3]
