Visual Description
Anthrax trisinuatus exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Bombyliidae, often referred to as bee flies. Observations from available imagery show a robust, somewhat hairy body typical of the genus Anthrax. The wings display distinct patterning, which is a diagnostic feature for many species within this genus.[1]
Ecology and Interactions
Anthrax trisinuatus has been documented visiting flowers of the family Aizoaceae.[2]
History
The species was described by A.J. Hesse in 1956 as part of his revision of the Bombyliidae of southern Africa.[3]
