Based on observations of museum specimens from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Anthrax morio exhibits the characteristic morphology of the family Bombyliidae.[1] The specimens display a robust, hairy body typical of bee flies. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, specific fine-scale diagnostic characters such as the exact structure of the antennal style are difficult to resolve in the available imagery.
