Visual Description
Anthrax confluensis is a species of bee fly belonging to the family Bombyliidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic robust, somewhat hairy body form typical of many bombyliids. The wings often display distinct, dark, mottled or patterned pigmentation, a common feature in the genus Anthrax. The body coloration generally includes shades of brown, black, and sometimes lighter, yellowish or whitish pubescence, which provides a degree of camouflage or mimicry.[1]
Distribution and Taxonomy
Anthrax confluensis was described by F.H.S. Roberts in 1928 as part of his revision of the Australian Bombyliidae.[2]
