Anthrax alterna is a species of bee fly within the family Bombyliidae. While specific morphological traits cannot be resolved from the available dataset imagery, members of the genus Anthrax are generally recognized as robust, often hairy flies that frequently exhibit patterned wings.[1]
Anthrax alterna was described by the entomologist Francis Walker in 1849.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species name within the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) database.[2]
