Visual Description
Anthomyza oblonga is a species of fly within the family Anthomyzidae. While specific morphological details are best observed in high-resolution specimens, members of the genus Anthomyza are generally characterized by their slender, often yellowish to brownish bodies. As noted in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, specimens of A. oblonga exhibit the typical body plan of the family, including a relatively elongated form.[1]
Distribution and Taxonomy
Anthomyza oblonga was described by Jindřich Roháček and Kevin N. Barber in 2016 as part of their monograph on Nearctic Anthomyzidae.[2][3] The species is recognized as an accepted name within the genus Anthomyza.[2]
