Members of the genus Anthomyza are small, slender, acalyptrate flies. Ecology and Distribution
Anthomyza species are often associated with graminoids (grasses). For example, Anthomyza elbergi is a phytosaprophagous species that inhabits dry grassland habitats, including forest margins and clearings, where it is associated with grasses such as Calamagrostis epigejos.[2]
The genus has a broad distribution, with some species exhibiting transpalaearctic ranges. Anthomyza elbergi, for instance, is found across the northern belt of the Palaearctic Region, with records spanning from Ireland and Great Britain to Japan and North Korea.[2]
