Based on observations of preserved specimens, Anthomyia citreibasis exhibits the characteristic body plan of the family Anthomyiidae.[1] The specimens display a robust, fly-like morphology with distinct thoracic and abdominal regions. The thorax is typically marked with dark, longitudinal patterns, and the wings are held in a characteristic position over the abdomen. Due to the nature of the preserved museum specimens, finer morphological details such as setal patterns or specific wing venation are not clearly resolved in the available imagery.[1]
Anthomyia citreibasis (Malloch, 1934) is an accepted species within the family Anthomyiidae.[2] It was originally described by J. R. Malloch under the basionym Hylemyia citreibasis.[2]
