Antho is a genus of marine sponges in the family Microcionidae (order Poecilosclerida; class Demospongiae). [2]
Visual Description
Based on representative images in the TreeOfLife-200M records, Antho species are typically represented by morphotypes such as erect to lobate/branched growth forms and also by encrusting to massive forms, consistent with common habit variation seen across demosponge Poecilosclerida. [1]

In GBIF taxonomy, Antho (Gray, 1867) is treated as an accepted genus within Microcionidae. [2]
A Zootaxa study by Stone and colleagues describes Antho ridgwayi sp. nov. and discusses how it can be distinguished from northern hemisphere congeners using diagnostic spicule characters (including spicule complement and sizes). [3]
