Based on observations of museum specimens, Anopheles turkhudi exhibits characteristic features of the genus Anopheles. The specimens display the slender body form typical of the family Culicidae, with long, delicate legs and narrow wings. The thorax and abdomen show patterns of coloration consistent with preserved anopheline material.[1]
Anopheles turkhudi is a non-vector species of Anopheles mosquito found in the southern and some central areas of Iran.[2]
In a study conducted in Minab County, Hormozgan province, Iran, An. turkhudi was identified among ten anopheline species collected from larval habitats.[2] It accounted for 5.55% of the total 3,841 larvae collected.[2] The species was captured across all studied topographic regions (coastal plain, foothill, and mountainous areas), though it was more prevalent in foothill regions.[2] Statistical analysis indicated no significant relationship between the altitude of the locations and the distribution of An. turkhudi in the study area.[2]
