Visual Description
Anopheles apicimacula exhibits characteristic features of the genus Anopheles. Distribution and Ecology
Anopheles apicimacula has been documented in regions of Colombia, including the Northwest and South Pacific coast regions. In a study of 70 localities, specimens were collected in municipalities such as Tierralta, Valencia, and Buenaventura via human-landing catches.[2] Phylogenetic analysis of COI sequences has revealed the existence of two distinct intraspecific lineages within this species, with one lineage restricted to the South Pacific coast and another found in both the Northwest and South Pacific regions.[2]
